Combat Bad Breath With These 5 Tips

By Shannon Clark B Sc, MA   |

Nothing is worse than sitting down to have a conversation with someone who is clearly suffering from bad breath.  Except perhaps if you are the one suffering from bad breath and don’t even realize it.

Sadly, bad breath impacts people on an everyday basis, many of who have no idea they are offending those they are around.

The great news is that with a few simple tips and tricks, you can put bad breath behind you.

Let’s go over five tips to help combat bad breath so that you can go into every conversation confident and worry-free.

Floss Daily

So you’re in a routine of brushing your teeth daily in effort to help control your bad breath. But, are you remembering to floss? Flossing properly is something that you must do if you hope to combat bad breath as food particles can be stuck between your teeth and without flossing, they may not come out.

If let to sit for days at a time, you can imagine what this will do to your breath.

Watch Your Intake Of Spices

Another tip to help freshen your breath is to watch your intake of herbs and spices. For instance, if you eat a very garlic heavy diet, it may be hard to get the smell out of your breath over time. These spices and herbs can actually move into the bloodstream, causing the scent to seep out of your pores.

This will make not only your skin have that scent, but your breath as well. This isn’t to say you should never eat garlic or something else that is heavily spiced again, but if you eat one meal that’s especially spicy, go easy at the next meal.

Stay Hydrated

Sometimes dehydration can also influence your breath, so that’s something else you’ll want to take note of.  Drinking plenty of water on a daily basis will help to not only improve hydration, but also help cleanse and rinse the mouth while you’re at it.

Note that only water should be used for this purpose. If you hydrate with coffee or soda for instance, that can actually make your breath worse despite the fluid intake.

Use A Breath Freshener

Using a breath freshener such as our Mint Mouth Freshener product will help to instantly freshen your breath while using only natural ingredients. The result is breath that smells and tastes great for hours.

While brushing will typically clean your teeth and gums, the fresh breath taste won’t last all that long. With our Mint Mouth Freshener product, you’ll sustain that feeling for a much greater period of time.

Chew Gum

Finally, the last tip to help keep your breath fresh is to chew gum whenever you feel bad breath coming on. This will help to get the salivary juices flowing, which can also help to rinse out the bacteria that could be causing the odor.

While mint gum will never be as powerful as our Mint Mouth Freshener, it will definitely help improve the situation.

So keep these five tips in mind and next time you are headed into an important meeting, a date, or another engagement you want to be sure you aren’t offending others, try one or two of them. Don’t be that person everyone avoids due to having bad breath.
