Plant Foods to Feed Your Body

In today’s busy world we are always in a hurry; working, spending time with the kids and keeping up with the social scene. We're left with little or no time to prepare food from scratch, and among other things it isn't really seen as a priority. Our answer is fast and frozen foods - it’s quick, but with very little benefits and completely inadequate!

For optimum health, our focus should be on real foods, organic preferably, that are full of minerals, vitamins and antioxidants that our bodies need!

It is best to go organic when possible as you get way more minerals versus GMO (genetically modified organisms) and non-organic, our soil is mineral depleted and when grown with chemicals and pesticides it decreases the good minerals even more.

By choosing healthy organic foods you can improve your mood and general well being; you can be more positive, relieve tension, stabilise blood sugar and protect yourself from getting sick. Nature's perfect way to staying healthy.

So here are some plant foods to help you achieve great health results.

Real cacao, raw unprocessed chocolate is extremely good for us. Eating a bit of chocolate makes us feel good and the reason is a neurotransmitter, anandamide, in the brain that blocks feelings of pain or depression; the feel-good chemical. Cacao is also high in magnesium. It lowers blood pressure, improves blood flow and boosts heart health. Try our great cacao products.

Many Seeds are high in magnesium, which acts as a precursor to serotonin, a brain neurotransmitter; helps regulate emotion and enhance well-being. Pumpkin, sunflower, flax seeds are the highest in magnesium. You might want to use nuts like almonds, cashews, pine-nuts and pecans for high mineral blends. Use in smoothies, salads, and yogurt.

Maca, a Mayan root vegetable, from Peru, is prized as an ancient superfood. It is incredible. It is linked to increased sex drive, a natural version of the drug, Viagra. It has shown to decrease menopausal symptoms in women, like reducing hot flashes. A sexy superfood, it is also a natural fertility enhancer.

Chlorella is known for detoxing the heavy metals from the body and helps fat loss. Chlorella assists with healthy hormone function, cardiovascular health, is high in minerals, iron, calcium and magnesium. Spirulina, sea veggies and green algae products are all high in chlorophyll; add them to smoothies to give you a boost of energy.

Baobab, a high Omega fruit, is from Africa. Baobab is a high source of vitamin C, and a good source of fibre. The baobab is used medicinally in Australia, builds up collagen and elastin in skin. It is a liver cleanser, with a powerhouse of minerals. You can use it in our powder form in drinks.

Goji berries are a super fruit with a high antioxidant, high ORAC value (oxygen radical absorbance capacity) and another powerhouse of minerals and nutrients from China and Tibet. They are renowned for their strength and longevity boost. They improve the immune system. Goji is a beneficial anti-inflammatory and high in essential amino acids. Use dried berries in teas, blenders or in soups; also available in powder form.
